When I lived in London, electric shock play was a big part of my kinky lifestyle. Most memorably wearing a shock device out in public. The first time was at Camden Markets, where my friend shocked me as we walked around. The second time was at the cinema, my date shocked my balls every time something in the particularly bad film annoyed her.
Back then I had quite a simple shocker. The electrodes were two fairly rigid rings. I could get my balls through one and put the other around my cock, although it was a little loose. The control was basic, with only one setting, either 'fast' or 'slow', which controlled the speed of the electrical pulse it kicked out. As well as this, there was an adjustment wheel to select the power.
So in practice, whoever was controlling the device would just vary the power, thus increasing and decreasing the amount of pain and discomfort.
My old device broke a few years back, but while reminiscing about my kinky experiences using them, I thought it would be fun to experience the pain again, even if just controlled by myself. Unfortunately, the model I had previously was no longer available anywhere, but there were plenty of options.
Those listed on Amazon are all pretty much the same, in that they all have the same controller and sell for around £15–£20. What varies is the actual electrode attachments. Some have the white-coloured, more rigid rings that my old device had, others have four adjustable straps, and another had four stretchy black electrode rings.
There's also a version with electrified butt plugs and long, thin electrodes designed for sounding - but both these options terrify me.
I should say that when you look at these devices on Amazon, they are described as being able to help you "double your pleasure and last longer", but as far as I can tell, these devices aren't designed for pleasure, and there's no reason to believe they would make anyone last longer. These things hurt. Perhaps on a low setting it could provide stimulation over discomfort, but that's not why I bought my original, and it's not why I want to try one again.
I decided to buy two models as they are so cheap: the adjustable strap version and the four black ring version.
Both arrived speedily, as you'd expect from Amazon. I unpacked it and studied the controller. There were far more settings and buttons than on my previous version. I'd worried that I might not understand their function when I saw the listing on Amazon, as each button had a Chinese character on it, but inspecting the controller up close, there are clear English labels on each too.
There's a power button for turning the device on and off, below this is the 'pulse' button. This puts the device into pulse mode, which mimics the output of my old device. It kicks out sharp spikes of stinging electricity. The nice thing about this model is a little green LED flashes in time with the pulse so you know it's on and working.
The next button is 'numb'. I'm not exactly sure what numb is supposed to do, but it gives sort of a sustained buzz rather than pulses. The next button is 'absorb', which again I'm not sure of the purpose of, but it gives a slightly different pattern of shocks.
There's then an 'auto' and 'adjust' button - neither of which I've worked out the function of.
As well as the buttons, there's a familiar wheel on the side that is used for adjusting the intensity of the shock. This worked well on my old version, so I was pleased to see it still existed on this more advanced model.
The device takes two AAA batteries, and the electrodes plug into the top. Both the straps and the rings are compatible, as the controllers are the same. So I put my spare controller away and experimented with just one.
I didn't get on too well with the straps. They didn't really fit on my cock. I think they would work well for better-endowed men who could probably fit two or even more electrodes comfortably along the length of their cocks.
As I'm mostly into ballbusting though, I was hoping the straps would fit around my balls, but unfortunately they were too small.
The black rings, however, worked well. They are quite stretchy and bendy, making it easy for me to slip not just my balls through the largest but also my cock, which was like wearing one snug cock ring. The second largest electrode then fitted snugly around just my balls. So in effect, I'd trapped my balls inside of two electrodes. Two is necessary to complete the circuit and deliver the shock, by the way.
So then I turned it on. I started with the wheel at its lowest, of course, and switched the device to pulse mode and experienced the familiar bite of the pulsing current, but it felt better than my old devices because of the configuration of the electrodes. My balls were getting the brunt of the jolt. As I turned the wheel to increase the power, I could begin to feel the stinging tingle of the electricity travel up my cock right to the tip. At full power it felt like my balls were being flicked with each pulse, while my cock throbbed in response to the electricity passing through it.
Starting at the lowest power again, I switched the device to numb and slowly started turning the wheel to gauge its power. This felt very different. It was almost like a stinging vibration passing through me. I preferred it to the pulse setting, it was more intense but also more bearable somehow.
I flicked the controller over to the absorb mode. This was much different. It hurt a lot. Although it was a sort of vibration similar to the previous mode, this one stung, it bit, it made my cock and balls feel like they were throbbing uncontrollably.
I didn't like this final mode, but should I ever use this with a domme, I'm sure this would be the option they would prefer when they see my reaction to it.
As a shorter guy, when I'm wearing the two rings, my balls are forced up against my cock, meaning I lose much of my already pretty non-existent length, which makes it quite hard to masturbate while wearing this.
However, the first time I played with it, I was able to use three fingers to rub just the head of my cock. I'd put the device on numb mode and was steadily increasing the power as I wanked. By the time I got the full power, I came, which didn't take long at all.
The second time, I decided to use a male masturbator, as it would be easier than trying to wank the little tip of my cock. The sucking and spinning device felt good when combined with the current pumping through my balls, but there was an unexpected side effect.
Lube is required to use the masturbator, which has a penis pump-like sucking sensation built into it. As my cock was sucked in and made contact with the lube in the textured inner tube, the pain increased specifically on the head of my cock.
The moisture in the lube was causing the electricity to build in intensity where it made contact. It was an odd sensation, but it added to the overall pleasure and pain, and again I came pretty quickly.
For the price, these are excellent toys. As with anything electrical, I'm not sure about their safety. I wouldn't want to use them on nipples or anywhere further up the body and would probably keep use to a minimum due to the possibility of tissue damage.
But what form of CBT comes without any possible risk?
